Om kurs i Inclusive Education:

Many unknown factors can interfere with a child’s natural growth. It might be genetics or other obstacles that prevent normal development. With improved observation, practical knowledge and the ability to follow the level of a child, parents and teachers can transform the lives of everyone involved.

This workshop will:

  • Review Montessori History on Special Education
  • Present an overview of common characteristics of behavioral, learning, and other exceptionalities that we are seeing children come to school with these days.
  • Identify issues that are causing stress in the child’s environment.
  • Offer some strategies for special support that the child with exceptionalities may require.

This workshop has at its base a respect for the expertise of the attending Montessori teachers and special educators. We will build upon their existing passion to help and include ALL children in their classroom. This requires a commitment to creating caring communities, increasing awareness of the child’s strengths, and supporting the rights of children to develop to their best potential and preserve their inner life.

This workshop is just a small portion of what we give in the 2-summer AMI Inclusive Education Course at Montessori Institute of San Diego.
